Fasting aids in preventing strokes from ever happening by simply increasing the protection of neurons and increasing neuronal breakdown by provoking the body to increase the amount of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) it releases.

Fasting will cause a significant decrease in the releasement of inflammatory mediators, thus decreasing the chances of damage to blood vessels.

Additionally, it decreases the chances of damaging the cerebrovascular- both of which are leading causes of strokes.
